about

Starting in late 1999 and then over several months in 2000, singer-songwriter Chris Titchner, cellist Ana Jesse, guitarist Lyle King, and percussionist Adam Rabin set up shop in Adam's home studio in Burlington, VT and began creating more fleshed out versions of the songs that Chris and Ana had been performing at coffee shops, restaurants, and colleges around the region during the previous year. With the additional assistance of guitarist Aaron Giroux and vocalist Emily Day the group created Some Things Never Change. Some Things is the most stripped down and most personal of any of Chris's albums and offers a snapshot of both a young songwriter who is finding his voice and a remarkable collaboration between two musicians whose creations are more than the sum of their parts.

If you're looking for a pop folk album that is lyric centered and features some truly transcendent cello parts, than this album is for you.

What some of the critics said about Some Things Never Change:

"Titchner has broadened his sound with a solid cast and taken the next step in his musical development...a well arranged and enjoyable folk-rock casserole."
- Kurt Zimmer, Seven Days, September 27th, 2000

"The songs on 'Some Things Never Change' are as good as they are because the melodies are catchy and the vocal performance is strong. The blend of acoustic guitar and cello is an easy sell to folks who like folk-based music with a pop edge to it...An overall fine job for Titchner and his friends".
- Steve Lemke, Scene and Heard
Burlington Free Press, October 19th, 2000

"I consider Chris Titchner an intellectual songwriter because he’s not someone whose music you can just play in the background. You really have to pay attention, or you’re missing something...[H]e's making a name for himself in the Raleigh area as someone to see in cafes and coffeeshops..."
- Jennifer Layton, indie-music.com, April 11, 2003
